The Town of Brookhaven Local Development Corporation (LDC) was established in May 2010 following the expiration of New York State’s civic facilities legislation. The goal is to facilitate financing for not-for-profit organizations such as colleges, hospitals, libraries, and those organizations serving people who are physically, developmentally or mentally disabled.

Board Member Bios

Fred Braun

Mr. Braun worked for over 46 years in commercial banking most recently as Executive Vice President of the State Bank of Long Island. He is currently President and CEO of Gyrodyne Company of America Inc., a publicly traded REIT. Mr. Braun also serves on the boards of several not-for-profit organizations including Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center where he has been a Trustee for over 30 years.

Felix J. Grucci, Jr.

Mr. Grucci has dedicated his life to public and private service. As the former President & CEO of his family’s internationally recognized fireworks firm, Fireworks by Grucci, Mr. Grucci produced many memorable once in a lifetime events such as Presidential Inauguration, Worlds Fairs, The Centennial of the Brooklyn Bridge, The Bi-Centennial of the United States, The Millennium Celebration in Washington DC 1999/2000 as well as many local events until his retirement in 2012. Mr. Grucci also served his community with distinction starting his community service as a Commissioner on the SC Planning Commission, Chairman - Zoning Board Town of Brookhaven, Councilman - Town of Brookhaven, Supervisor – Town of Brookhaven and concluding his public service as a Member of the 107th Congress from the 1st Congressional District. Mr. Grucci continues his community service by serving as a Board of Director and Trustee of the Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center. He is also a Trustee and Chairman of the Finance Committee at Mary Immaculate RC Church.

Scott Middleton

A partner in the Ronkonkoma law firm Campolo, Middleton & McCormick LLP, Middleton has represented individual, small and large corporations and municipalities in personal injury matters for nearly 25 years. He also has been a lecturer on administrative law in the Masters in Public Policy Program at Stony Brook University.

A 1984 graduate of Stony Brook University – he later served as President of the University’s Alumni Association, Middleton earned his law degree in 1988 at Brooklyn Law School.

Martin Callahan

Martin Callahan, a partner and vice president for Coram-based National Computerized Agencies, Inc., an independent insurance agency serving the commercial and personal insurance needs of its customers in 35 states. He brings more than 28 years of business experience to the Brookhaven IDA and LDC.

Michael Kelly

Michael Kelly, a lawyer by training and a licensed real estate broker, brings more than 30 years of real estate industry related experience to the Brookhaven IDA and LDC.

He is the principal of Kelly Development Corporation of Patchogue, which focuses on developing small sub-divisions, including the Riverwalk Condominiums, now under construction in Patchogue.

Gary Pollakusky

Pollakusky, a Baldwin native who now resides in Rocky Point, is a 1998 graduate of Cornell University. He started Media Barrel in 2002. He worked for Bernard Hodes Group, Brilliance Audio, Inc, and AHL Services, Inc. and with the American Foundation for the Blind.
